Films, series, documentaries: Netflix closes deal with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry
Prince Harry and former “Suits” actress Meghan Markle have given up their status as British royals. You are now financially on your own two feet. They have now made a deal with Netflix on many different projects.
Earlier this year rumors made the rounds that former “Suits” actress Meghan Markle would return to show business for Disney despite her marriage to Prince Harry, the son of the British heir to the throne, Prince Charles.
As it turned out, she only spoke in a documentary about elephants from the off. But now there is really big news that is causing a stir in the industry!
Markle and Harry have signed a multi-year deal with Netflix that includes the production of various documentaries, feature films, series and children’s series.

Information, diversity, entertainment
“We want to focus on content that should inform, but also give hope,” said the couple in an official statement. The aim is to produce versatile formats that combine diversity and entertainment.
Two projects are already in development. We are currently working on a nature documentary and an animation series for children in which inspiring women are the focus. Nothing is known about new feature film or series formats.

Of course, Markle and Harry have not revealed how much money is involved in the deal. What is certain, however, is that the celebrity couple is in good company with the streaming service. After all, the former US President Barack Obama and ex-First Lady Michelle Obama are also part of the Netflix team and have already produced the first formats, and with success: The Obamas-sponsored documentary “American Factory” won an Oscar FMOVIES.
A first collaboration between Netflix and Prince Harry – which is not yet part of the deal – can already be streamed. The documentary “Phoenix from the Ashes”, about the relevance of the Paralympics, is currently running on Netflix.
